He sent envoys to King Demetrius to say, “Come, let’s make an agreement with each other. I’ll give you my daughter to marry, Alexander’s wife. Then you will rule over your father’s kingdom.
And he sent ambassadors to Demetrius, saying: Come, let us make a league between us, and I will give thee my daughter whom Alexander hath, and thou shalt reign in the kingdom of thy father.
From there King Ptolemy sent this message to King Demetrius: Let's make a treaty. My daughter is now Alexander's wife, but I will take her back and give her to you and let you rule over your father's kingdom.
